The first blog post is always the hardest. A blank page, staring anxiously at me waiting for the first word. Sentence. Paragraph. It's like trying to start an essay in your first year of uni...or even your final year of uni.
But here it goes- welcome to my new blog! 'New' because I have chosen to say goodbye to Tumblr and begin a-fresh. Tumblr is where it all began. I was jet setting off to Europe in 20122 for 6 weeks and wanted to document my adventures somewhere online where family and friends at home could follow. In the old days, communication while traveling was a mere postcard or letter, that when received two weeks later if you hadn't arrived home already, your adventures were a distant memory and you had already experienced a whole lot more. Then there was the birth of emails. Alleluia! Not only could you type up all your holiday adventures and it be received quicker than it took dial-up internet to connect (remember that sound!?), you could send the same email to several people...hello group emails! Then technology started getting all fancy and all of a sudden we have hundreds of ways of communicating around the world. So I chose Tumblr. I was new to the world of blogging and it seemed pretty straight forward to use. I could access it on my phone, take photo's, type and in seconds send it to the world wide web. Just recently I decided I wanted to create something bigger. Almost like a web page of my own. This is where I discovered Blogger. It took some time to learn the in's and out's of this site as it's much more complicated than Tumblr, however it's much more my own individual site and no longer just a travel blog! I started creating Bird on a Buffalo about a month ago now. It has taken some time (and patience) adding all the links, editing photos, playing around with fonts and layouts, but I have finally got round to the final, but also first, touch...my first blog post.
Just last week I bought my first DSLR camera. I feel like a proud new mum. Except I'm a proud new camera owner. I love photography and I love seeing peoples photography. From people to landscapes to food, having an eye and being able to capture those special moments requires talent. A talent that I am on a journey of learning. I hope to share with you that journey of learning through my own photography some of which you can check out here.
Last weekend was a long weekend here in Sunny Perth so Pete and I took the time to visit Kings Park, a park just west of the city that boasts some of the most fabulous views of Perth and holds some of the most beautiful Natives and Wildflowers.
While there we checked out a spot that we are having our "Perth" engagement party next weekend. Our "Victorian" engagement party is fastly approaching next month however it doesn't seem fast enough. We still have to endure six more busy weeks left of the school term, reports, assessment marking, parent-teacher interviews and a year 12 retreat. Not to forget teaching. But we will get there.
Before I end my first post, I'm going to add a list of what has been "average" and "awesome" during my week to the end of my blog posts, an idea inspired by a few other blogs that I read.
Average
